This watch is perfect, but it is true that it is very hard to get. I had to purchase a s/s Submariner $4700, s/yg Submariner $7600, and a p/s yachtmaster $7800. This totals over $21,000 with tax. I still had to wait over a year for the white faced one. This is worth the wait though. The best watch I have ever owned. I own over 100 watches for citizen to rolex and this one by far is the best and anyone who knows rolexs are in awe if you have one of these.

If its so close to impossible to get than why can I order it right now off of this site? Plenty in stock, it will take 1-2 weeks. Maybe you should should stick to Casio’s.

For those of you who have left your comments about this piece – educate yourselves. If this watch is indeed authentic, then it is a steel. You see, whether it is $1.25 or $12,500 or $125,000, You CAN NOT buy it in any store. It is for VERY special people. So unless you are someone like Tony Bennett or really know someone in the watch industry, good luck. The rumor was there was a 3 year wait period. Now, they just look at you and tell you that it is not possible to get one. You can get it on strap with an 18K gold case or a vintage one for thousands and thousands. But not in all steel. So, if you really want a true status symobol, this is it. Go ahead, go to a reputable and well know dealer and see for yourself. I have no connection whatsoever to this seller, but I know someone who has the watch.

I started looking for a Dayton in Shanghai, China. The quotes ranged from USD6,500 to over USD8,000 but none of the dealers had any in stock. Then I was fortunate enough to find a white dail SS 116520 in Taipei, Taiwan earlier this year for about USD9,600. I had to wait for about a week before it turned up, but I didn’t hesitate for even one second. Although I did manage to find another one, but the offer was over USD10,000. After that, I thought it was fairly easy to find a Dayton until I came back to California. At least two dealers laughed in my face when I asked about seeing a Daytona. They said it is reserved for “VIP’s.” Since I already had one on my wrist, I didn’t bother to find out why. Eventually, one dealer explained to me why that was. Rolex forbidds any of its authorized dealers to sell Rolex’s over the MSRP. And for an authorized dealer to get a Daytona, they must sell a certain amount of Rolex’s. As for non-authorized Rolex dealers that manages to get a hold of a Daytona, they try to sell it for as much as they can. And that’s the reason why I paid way over MSRP for mine. But if you go on eBay, you will see that the ending price for a SS Daytona is always around USD10,000. I haven’t been able to find an offer less than USD10,000 since I got mine…so I guess I don’t feel too ripped-off. So if Amazon is offering the SS Daytona for less than USD10,000, I would say it is a good deal for not having to wait.

As a fairly new Rolex Daytona owner (waiting list for 2 years), I concur with the statements made before me about availability, and cost. The watch speaks for itself (if real) and I am impressed with it more each day. Whether it is an object of love, desire, investment, or indulgence, wanting one is no sin, and owning one sheer pleasure. Of course other than its’ aesthetic beauty, and the feeling of confidence and pride one gets in owning a very high quality ANYTHING (it is first and foremost an unquestioned serious timepiece and item of jewelry), lots of Rolex owners simply LIVE for the reactions of others to the watch. It reflects different things to different people, owners and viewers alike. It outlast owners, and will increase in value each year. I trust other owners will enjoy theirs as much as I do mine. I also own a Movado Men’s diamond Eliro, and while stylish and elegant in its’ own right, the Rolex is a whole other animal.
